first post in 2015

This is my first post on my blog since dec 2014.

I felt the need to go away and do alot more drawing.
I did a month or 2 at the watts online atelier. It helped me develop my pencil caligraphy and quick indication drawing. I must have filled about 70 A2 sheets full of timed heads and figure drawings.
The watts method is based on the older 'Riley' method helping you navigate through the figure more quickly mapping shadow edges with hard and soft lines. The technique improves your consistancy in your drawing and its an enjoyable way of drawing. I especially like it for shorter pose work. Although i still need way more practice. I ''try'' to fill a sheet every morning before work.

Here is a couple of sheets of 2-3 mins poses. As you can see i rarely have hit the legs as i run out of time. I will post some more soon.

more life drawings.  The last 2 drawings are my attempts at a more complete figure drawing. And as you can see they look incomplete.  I find it hard to get final images that have accurate drawing and values.. strong structure and design within a relatively short time limit. So these drawings are a good representation of my decision making within the time limit. Its something to keep working on but its exciting to see little bits of progress.

leandre underpainting

underpainting pretty much done. likeness about 90%. Any other drawing problems can be fixed with theadditional layers of color.  There is still some glare in the photo although we didnt have enough polarising gel to cover the softboxes when taking the photo. This will be fixed when posting the final painting.
